6 Easy Halloween Costume Ideas for Girls — With Pieces They Can Wear Again

6 Easy Halloween Costume Ideas for Girls — With Pieces They Can Wear Again

I have always loved putting together my kids’ Halloween costumes.

Instead of buying an entire costume in a bag, I usually start with an idea and build the look myself. For me, half the fun is finding all the little pieces that make the costume come together.

And whenever I can, I try to choose things they can actually wear again after Halloween.

A great pair of boots, a denim skirt, a faux-fur vest, sneakers—I’d much rather spend money on pieces that can go back into their closets on November 1st.

This year, my daughter decided she wanted to be a cowgirl, which sent me down the Amazon rabbit hole looking for everything we needed. And once I started looking... I couldn't stop. 😂

So I ended up putting together six easy Halloween costume ideas for girls, with everything conveniently shoppable on Amazon.

1. THE COWGIRL 🤠

This is the one that started the whole thing.

Start with denim shorts or a denim skirt and a simple white tank. Add a fringe vest, cowboy boots and a bandana, then have fun with the accessories.

I found turquoise bracelets, horseshoe earrings and plenty of cowboy hats to finish the look.

And this is exactly why I like building costumes myself—the denim, tank, boots, vest and jewelry can all be worn again.

WESTERN. CUTE. EASY TO PULL TOGETHER. 🤠

2. THE BLACK CAT 🐈⬛

A classic—and probably one of the easiest costumes to pull together at the last minute.

Start with a simple black dress or black leggings, add a black faux-fur vest, cat ears and a tail. I even found an adorable little cat crossbody bag that makes the whole thing.

Finish it with black sneakers or Mary Janes.

Most of the outfit can go right back into her closet when Halloween is over.

EASY. CUTE. NO PLASTIC COSTUME REQUIRED. ✓

3. THE POP PRINCESS 🎤✨

For the girl who wants pink, sparkle and a little pop-star energy.

Start with a fun pink dress, add sparkly shoes and a faux-fur vest. Then pile on the fun extras to make it feel more pop star than traditional princess.

A little glitter, fun jewelry or even a microphone can completely make the look.

And once Halloween is over? The dress, shoes and vest can all be worn separately again.

PINK. SPARKLY. POP-STAR READY. ✨

4. GLINDA 🩷✨

If Wicked is still on repeat at your house, this one is so easy.

Start with a pretty pink dress, add sparkly pink shoes, a crown and, of course, a Glinda wand.

You can also add a pale pink faux-fur vest if Halloween night is chilly.

It's recognizable without needing an elaborate costume—and several of the pieces can easily be worn again.

A LITTLE GLINDA. A LOT OF PINK. 🩷

5. THE TENNIS PLAYER 🎾

This may be my favorite from a practical standpoint because almost everything is just clothing she'll wear again.

Start with a white polo or sleeveless tennis top and a pleated tennis skirt. Add a visor, striped knee socks and white sneakers.

Hand her a tennis racket and you're done.

It's cute, comfortable and couldn't be easier.

GAME. SET. HALLOWEEN. 🎾

6. WEDNESDAY ADDAMS 🖤

Another easy one—and instantly recognizable.

Start with a black dress with a white collar, add striped or black tights and simple black shoes.

Those signature braids really make the look, so you can either style her own hair or grab an inexpensive Wednesday-style wig.

And if she really wants to commit? I even found a Thing hand. 😂

CREEPY. CLASSIC. VERY EASY. 🖤

THE DEAR LUCY EDIT

My Halloween philosophy after years of putting costumes together for my kids?

Buy fewer costume pieces and more things they'll actually wear again.

You can still make Halloween feel really special without spending a fortune on an outfit that gets worn once and disappears into a costume bin.

I've already done the searching and pulled together the pieces for all six costumes in one place.

COWGIRL • BLACK CAT • POP PRINCESS • GLINDA • TENNIS PLAYER • WEDNESDAY

Pick a look, grab the pieces you need and you're done.
