My Simple AM Skincare Routine After 40

My Simple AM Skincare Routine After 40

I recently went down the luxury skincare rabbit hole while putting together my latest Dear Lucy Edit. There are so many incredible products out there—but for my everyday routine?

I like to keep it as simple as possible.

I don't want eight products every morning. I want a few really good ones I'll actually use consistently.

CLEANSE → TREAT → MOISTURIZE → PROTECT

Four steps. That's it.

01. CLEANSE

Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash

I use Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash, and cleanser is one place I don't think you need to spend a fortune.

Get your skin clean. Move on.

DEAR LUCY EDIT: Save the splurge for something that stays on your skin.

02. TREAT

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic

This is where I'd splurge. ✨

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is the cult vitamin C serum you've probably heard about. It's my one treatment step in this routine—no need to layer three more serums on top.

DEAR LUCY EDIT: One really good treatment serum is enough for me.

03. MOISTURIZE

Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream

Next, one really good moisturizer.

Caudalie Premier Cru gives me the luxury-skincare experience I want without turning moisturizing into three separate steps.

DEAR LUCY EDIT: Fewer products. Better products.

04. PROTECT

EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46

The step I wouldn't skip. ☀️

I want an SPF that's easy to wear every single day, and EltaMD UV Clear is lightweight and works beautifully before makeup.

DEAR LUCY EDIT: The best SPF is the one you'll actually wear.

THAT'S IT.

Cleanse. Treat. Moisturize. Protect.

These four are my picks for a simple everyday AM routine, but they're only a small part of my full Luxury Skincare Edit.

I also pulled products from Augustinus Bader, Sisley, Natura Bissé, U Beauty, iS Clinical, Dr. Barbara Sturm, La Mer, Westman Atelier + more for when you want to explore a little further—or indulge in a serious splurge. ✨
