THE EXUMAS EDIT | M.Fairchild Edit
BOAT DAYS ARE THE BEST DAYS. PERIOD.
Of all the incredible things we did during our family vacation to Great Exuma, my absolute favorite days were the two we rented our own boat.
No tour schedule. No rushing. Just our family, a cooler, and some of the most beautiful turquoise water I've ever seen.
We spent our days exploring Elizabeth Harbour, discovering sandbars, stopping at little beach bars, and doing exactly what we felt like doing.
Honestly, this is my kind of vacation.
RENTING A BOAT WITH MINNS WATER SPORTS 🚤
YOUR BOAT. YOUR DAY. YOUR OWN LITTLE ADVENTURE.
We rented our boat from Minns Water Sports, located in George Town, Great Exuma.
Minns specializes in boat rentals for exploring Elizabeth Harbour, with easy access to Stocking Island, beautiful beaches, snorkeling spots, and some wonderfully laid-back island bars.
What I loved most was the freedom to create our own day.
We could find a beautiful stretch of sand, jump in the water, stop for lunch, or just cruise around taking in those unbelievable Exuma blues.
We loved it so much we rented a boat for two days!
THE SANDBARS | MY KIND OF PARADISE 🐚
TURQUOISE WATER. SANDY FEET. ABSOLUTELY NO PLANS.
One of my favorite memories was stopping at an incredible sandbar in the middle of all that beautiful blue water.
The kids threw a ball around, we wandered through the shallow water looking for starfish, and we just enjoyed being together.
No activities to organize. No reservations to make. Just a beautiful sandbar and nowhere else we needed to be.
These are the moments I love most about family vacations.
THE M.FAIRCHILD TIP: Bring a ball, a waterproof bag, and plenty of sunscreen. If you spot starfish, admire them in the water without picking them up or disturbing them.
DA SAND BAR | STOCKING ISLAND 🍹
BAREFOOT VIBES. COLD DRINKS. ISLAND TIME.
We stopped at Da Sand Bar, a cute little beach bar located on Starfish Beach on Stocking Island.
This is exactly the kind of place I love finding on vacation.
Nothing fancy. Just a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful water, and the chance to kick back for a while.
It's a great reminder that sometimes the best places are the simplest ones.
THE M.FAIRCHILD TIP: Add Da Sand Bar to your Elizabeth Harbour boat day for a casual stop and some wonderfully relaxed island vibes.
THE COCONUT CLUB | A MUST-STOP 🌮🥥
LOBSTER TACOS. COCONUT COCKTAILS. REPEAT.
Another stop we absolutely loved was The Coconut Club.
If you're exploring Elizabeth Harbour by boat, I highly recommend making time to stop here.
My advice? Kick back, order a few tacos — the lobster tacos were my favorite — and enjoy a Pressure Wash served in a coconut.
Seriously, does it get any better than that?
Great food, a fun atmosphere, and the kind of laid-back experience that makes you want to stay just a little longer.
THE M.FAIRCHILD TIP: Don't skip the lobster tacos or the Pressure Wash! Check current opening hours and boat access before heading over.

THE M.FAIRCHILD BOAT DAY TIPS 🌴
A LITTLE PLANNING. A LOT OF FREEDOM.
-
Book your boat ahead of time. We rented through Minns Water Sports in George Town and loved having the flexibility to explore Elizabeth Harbour ourselves.
-
Pack a cooler. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and drinks for your time between stops.
-
Bring something for the kids. A simple ball turned our sandbar stop into one of my favorite family memories.
-
Plan a leisurely lunch. The Coconut Club is absolutely worth working into your day.
-
Check the weather and tides. Follow the rental company's guidance on navigation, safe anchoring, and where you're permitted to take the boat.
-
Don't overschedule. The beauty of renting your own boat is having the freedom to stay wherever you're happiest.
THE M.FAIRCHILD TAKE 🌊
TWO BOAT DAYS. ENDLESS TURQUOISE WATER. MY FAVORITE EXUMA MEMORIES.
We booked some incredible excursions during our vacation, but if I could go back and repeat just one experience, it would be renting our own boat.
The kids playing on the sandbar. Looking for starfish. A relaxed stop at Da Sand Bar. Lobster tacos and a Pressure Wash at The Coconut Club.
Nothing complicated. Just beautiful places, good food, and time together.
For me, that's what an island vacation is all about.
RENT THE BOAT. FIND THE SANDBAR. ORDER THE LOBSTER TACOS. 💙
